.: Fiber Optic Connection
The goal of this scenario is to use a
release clamp tool to finish the installation of a Fiber Optic SPAR
|
|

|
.: Introduction
The scenario begins with a basket containing the Clamping
Tool. The purpose is to pilot to the
Basket, grab the Clamping tool with the 7-function (T4) manipulator, pilot
to the SPAR, and use the tool to connect the Fiber Optic Cable to the SPAR.
The basket is
visible on the right side of the ROV’s front cameras. The SPAR is behind the ROV on a heading
of roughly 170°. The tool contained
inside of the basket has its handle facing East to facilitate picking it up
with the T4 while the ROV is facing North.

.: Procedure
1. Pilot the ROV torwards the
basket containing the Clamping Tool.
2.
Using the 5-Function (Rigmaster) manipulator grab one of the cables
holding the basket, for stability.
3.
With the T4 grab the Clamping Tool by its handle.
4.
Maneuver the Clamping Tool as to take it out of the basket and
release the Rigmaster’s hold of the cable.
5.
Pilot the ROV towards the Fiber Optic SPAR.
6.
Travel on a heading of 170 with a depth of 164m (538 ft).
7.
When reaching the rig, your final Tether length should be
approximately 230 to 240m (755 to 787 ft).
8.
Looking at the diagram below, The top of the Release clamp tool
[1] fits over the uppermost ring
[2].
9.
Once the tool is in place, make it contract.
10. The Fiber Optic Cable will
collapse and lock into place.
